In case of emergency: download an app

At the end of May, we published a new article in the series of publications covering the role of technology as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to display the increasing collection, processing and storage of personal data via the use of applications, we carried out a technical analysis on five apps being promoted in the provinces of Santa Fe, Jujuy, La Rioja and Tierra del Fuego, as well as in the city of Cordoba. In the article, we mention several concerns raised by the constant narrative of the urgency to implement apps as a measure to mitigate negative harms due to the pandemic, underlining the importance of transparent behavior by state authorities when handling the problems these technologies are supposed to solve.
