Participation in the “CFK vs. Google” debate
ADC researcher Eduardo Ferreyra participated in a debate on the “CFK vs. Google” case and its impact on freedom of expression in the digital world. The activity was coordinated by Observacom and Access Now and included the participation of other civil society organizations and academia. In view of probable developments regarding the regulation of digital platforms in Argentina, the discussion focused on issues such as content moderation policies, the editorial role of intermediaries, and the most appropriate means of guaranteeing regulations that prevent abuses by public authorities and private actors.
From our perspective, we stress the need to adopt regulations that aim to prevent abuse of power by key players -whether public or private- and protect people from those decisions that unfairly affect their right to participate in the new public forum that the internet has created.
