ADC Executive Director joins PAI’s Policy Steering Committee
The Executive Director of the Association for Civil Rights (ADC), Valeria Milanes, has been appointed to the Policy Steering Committee of Partnership on AI (PAI), a recently formed organization that addresses key issues related to artificial intelligence governance.
Bringing together experts from various disciplines and perspectives within industry, academia, and civil society, PAI’s Policy Steering Committee intends to engage in constructive debate and produce effective solutions.
The wide range of views and expertise within the body stems from a deliberate decision to provide diversity of thought in the advice of PAI, its members, and public policymakers.
Together with Ms. Milanes, this first PAI Policy Steering Committee comprises Natasha Crampton (Chief Responsible AI Officer at Microsoft; Arisa Ema (Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo); Alexandra Givens (CEO of the Center for Democracy & Technology), Sebastian Hallensleben (Head of Digitization and AI at CEN/CENELEC and VDE); Richard Mathenge (member of the African Content Moderators Union); Alondra Nelson (Professor at IAS); Marc Etienne Ouimette (Global Lead for AI Policy at AWS); Karine Perset (Head of OECD AI unit); Irene Solaiman (Head of Global Policy at Hugging Face); and Harlan Yu (Executive Director of Upturn).
Partnership on AI is a non-profit coalition made up of academic institutions, civil society organizations, companies, and the media. Its goal is to promote solutions for an advancement of AI in the benefit of the population and society.
