ADC attends Stakeholder Day at OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting
As members of the Steering Committee of the CSISAC (Civil Society Information Advisory Council), ADC sat in on Stakeholder Day, December 13, during the OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting held in Gran Canaria, Spain, until the 16th of the month.
During her speech, ADC’s executive director, Valeria Milanes, explained how CSISAC functions, its relevance as a voice of civil society, and its activity ahead of the Ministerial Meeting.
«OECD’s leadership in digital economy issues is patent, but despite the opportunities it provides, the fact is that inequality has deepened, affecting regions and people in many different aspects and crisis are ocurring around the world,» Milanes stressed.
Our rep then referred to the main priorities set by CSISAC for its work agenda before the OECD and highlighted three aims:
- Contribute to the Ministerial Meeting and the CDEP (Committee on Digital Economy Policy) with meaningful, diverse, and inclusive civil society participation.
- Provide the Meeting with as much civil society expertise as possible.
- Engage regularly in every workstream with the CDEP, national delegations, and stakeholders, identifying common ground and building on differences.
Later that day, Milanes moderated the roundtable discussion Twin Transition (Green and Digital), with presentations by Pam Dixon (World Privacy Forum), Adriana Labardini Inzunza (Association For Progressive Communications), Bruno Bioni (Data Privacy Brazil), Burcu Kilic (Minderoo Foundation), Nicolas Miailhe (The Future Society), Sonigitu Ekpe (CSISAC) and Paz Peña (Instituto Latinoamericano de Terraformación).
