Participation in the ITU-CWG Internet Consultation
On 17 January, ADC contributed to the public consultation carried out by the Council Workgroup (CWG), about issues related to the ITU’s global internet public policies.
ITU (International Telecommunication Union) is the United Nations specialized agency regulating information and communication technologies – ICTs. The CWG that held the consultation was created in 2010 and is integrated by the ITU Member States, but poses questions for discussion to other key players of the sector, such as companies, civil society groups, and academia. The main focus of this call was the link between the internet and public policies regarding the use of new and emerging ICTs for sustainable development.
The highlight of our contribution was about smart and sustainable cities, internet connection in Argentina within the regional context, the emergence of new business fields as a result of changing production models based on the use of personal data, and women’s role in jobs concerning ICTs and new technologies.
