New report: Reforma Judicial

The Asociación por los Derechos Civiles (ADC) published Reforma Judicial  [Judicial Reform] last month, a paper as which we ponder on the bill of Organization of the Federal Judiciary and Decree no. 635/2020, and stress those points of the proposal that we believe should be revised. On August 27, the National Senate gave approval to the “Bill of Organization and Competence of Federal Courts located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the Provinces”. While the draft law is being prepared for discussion in the Lower House, the Executive created an Advisory Council made up of eleven jurists, to consider and develop other projects of possible reform, such as the functioning of the Public Prosecutor´s Office, the Council of Magistracy, and the National Supreme Court of Justice. As a civil society organization, we advocate that any reform of the judiciary should be conducted through a democratic procedure, preceded by uninhibited, robust, and wide-open debate, allowing the expression of all actors involved.
