ADC provides input to preliminary draft data protection bill
In response to the public consultation opened by the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP), the Association for Civil Rights (ADC) submitted its considerations to the preliminary draft for the update of the Data Protection Law.
Among the top suggestions is that the norm should consider the asymmetrical relationship between government, large firms, and consumers and clarify the use of undefined legal concepts to prevent it from interfering with citizen rights.
Apart from that, we made contributions referring to personal data treatment in legal or criminal proceedings, due diligence, and children and adolescent protection. As to this latter group, we emphasized the need to acknowledge the Convention on the Rights of the Child, among other norms, and implement protective measures for all persons under 18 years old.
ADC welcomes the reform and advocates for new legislation aligned with the current reality and international standards.
