ADC collaborates in RIPD Civil Society Forum’s latest comparative study

The Asociación por los Derechos Civiles (Association for Civil Rights – ADC) participated in the process of drafting the recently launched comparative study of Data Protection Agencies in Peru, Paraguay, and Colombia. The report was prepared by the organizations that form the RIPD Civil Society Forum, of which ADC is a member.

The document, a fundamental guide to understanding the activity displayed by the agencies in the region, examines key aspects such as objectives, legislation, and legal attributions. The study was written out by ADC and reviewed by Karisma Foundation, Hiperderecho, and TEDIC, and is the first release of the research, dedicated to the agencies of the countries mentioned above.

ADC at the RIPD Civil Society Forum

In 2018, an initiative led by ADC and other organizations in the region prompted the Ibero-American Data Protection Network (RIPD) to amend its rules of procedure to strengthen the participation of civil society in its activities and meetings. These changes set the groundwork for creating the Civil Society Forum (FSC), which serves as a link between civil society and the Ibero-American Data Protection Network (RIPD), aiming to contribute with knowledge and a human rights perspective.

Subsequently, between September and November 2020, ADC participated in the organization and dissemination of the successful series of webinars held by the RIPD Civil Society Forum, titled Contributions of Civil Society to the Protection of Data, National Experiences of Data Protection and COVID-19 and the Protection of personal data.

On the other hand, last February, ADC took part in the 2023 edition of the Ibero-American Meeting on Personal Data Protection through its project officer Luis García Balcarce. Our researcher presented the paper Privacy is Health. An inquiry into the health technologies deployed in Argentina and their impact on personal data protection.

The event, organized by the RIPD, was held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
